Week 5: Studio Visits, NY
This week we visited fine art and photography museum Fotografiska, Austrian-based analog powerhouse Lomography, and Brooklyn’s own Gowanus Darkroom, as well as the commercial studio of photographer and ASMP member Ken Jones.
Week 3: Gymnopedie, Brooklyn, NY
Our third week of class featured a long shootaround in the unique basement space of Gymnopedie, located under a church in central Bushwick. Our class focused on Point Of View, with thought-provoking questions, and special guest appearances by Sean Pressley and Duane Lyken.
Week 2: The 9 Studios, Brooklyn, NY
Following a fun first week getting to know each other, we got down to the business of understanding business relationships, and the client perspective. Guests Rafael Espinal (Freelancers Union), Echo Hopkins (Anderson Hopkins) and Nara Irigoyen contributed to a critical discussion on Working With Clients.
Week 1: The 9 Studios, NYC
Our first in-person meeting, we got the crew together for a day of portraits, sharing images that resonate with us, and meeting with Mentors to discuss goals and challenges in the process. Each student was tasked with making a portrait of every other student, all within 90 minutes.
