Description
This 1-day workshop connects technical and creative concerns when photographing in the unpredictable nature of the city landscape. A strong follow-up to Camera Warm-Up, Engaging Light! challenges students to observe, perceive and manipulate light and shadow to help make unique photographs that inspire the imagination.
By utilizing a 5-hour class structure, we'll be able to watch and photograph sunlight change throughout the day and discuss its effects on street scenes, architecture and portrait environments. You'll deepen your understanding of light and how it reacts to different situations--a critical training for capturing powerful imagery. Through gaining a better appreciation for how light can shape the image, we can push our creativity to greater depths.
Who should take this class?
This workshop is ideal for students and street shooters who are already experienced with basic mechanics of cameras (controlling exposure, focus, aperture, shutter speed) and want to develop their technique and experiment with natural light. It's a great class for those who want to perfect their practice and work faster on their toes. And for those who want to push their skills to a more intuitive level.
What to bring?
Bring your camera and we will provide you with a syllabus and field guide notebook.
Prerequisites
If you are not familiar with controlling exposure through aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and generally working in manual mode, we strongly recommend signing up for 1 Day Workout: Camera Warm-Up!
