Description
“What would happen if…?” This question lies at the heart of creativity, experimentation, and discovery. To engage with the creative process you have to be willing to get curious, explore, show up for the work and take risks. Without creative risk and failure we often find ourselves standing still. If you feel like you need some new ways to shake up your shooting then this class is for you!
This class will provide students with a safe space to try a series of wacky, strange, and otherwise unconventional exercises each week akin to a photographic obstacle course. We’ll test the power of repetition, boundaries, and to embrace absurdity so you can start to take your work further by taking yourself a little less seriously.
Who Should Take This Class?
This class is for anyone that is willing to shake up their photographic practice beginner or advanced alike. If you have been feeling hesitant about your creative output, or generally feel a little uninspired, we’re here to change that.
What to prepare
We’ll be using Zoom to meet for class, so prepare a space to work and a laptop/desktop computer for joining the class. Have a digital camera ready, and compile some examples of recent work or ideas for discussion.
Prerequisites
Basic camera skill for controlling exposure and focus is highly recommended. It’s helpful to have a working knowledge of your computer’s operation, like selecting files, copy and pasting, and a familiarity with how files are stored in your computer and where to find things. Please contact us if you are unfamiliar with the computer stuff mentioned above.
