Behind The Decks
"Behind the Decks" is an interview-portrait series documenting female and nonbinary DJs outside of nightlife. The project aims to express the multi-faceted nature of these DJs and who they are behind the decks.
This concept was born not only out of Cat experience as a DJ and her desire to connect with others like herself, but also, her personal desire to create space to be many different things. For this series, she sat down with 5 different DJs in their personal environments to discuss music, inspirations, other interests, and more.
In doing this series, Cat creates space for these individuals to express themselves as they are, DJs and beyond.

About Cat
Cat Marchenko is a Belarusian-American Creative Director and Multimedia Visual Artist based in Brooklyn, NY. As a multi-faceted creative, she works in direction, photography, video, and design.
Cat is particularly passionate about music and loves to collaborate with DJs, producers, and artists. In college, she discovered the underground world of music and nightlife in Ann Arbor/Detroit.
The energy of these experiences has brought inspiration to Cat’s work. Whether it be through album art, music videos, documentaries, zines, or films, Cat wishes to create visual experiences that express depth, mood, and emotion.
