Witching Hour

“Witching Hour” evokes the fears I experienced as a child staying up late through the lens of the horror films I love. With “Witching Hour”, I want to capture the feeling of late-night anxiety- being the last one to fall asleep and feeling lost in your own house, the timid steps through a long hallway, hearing a noise from the other side of the house and not knowing what made it. It’s a feeling I’ve encountered several times and wanted to convey in my work. I was incredibly influenced by the storytelling of cinema, both in the visual language of horror and the collision and juxtaposition of images relied upon by film editors. I’m beyond proud of this work and thank everyone who had a hand in helping me complete it; from my incredibly supportive family, to my models who graciously volunteered and helped bring the vision to life, to everyone at The Bridge and ASMP for creating such an incredible program and offering endless amounts of creative ideas and support, and finally, thank you to all my professors and mentors for instilling in me the love and passion for photography and helping me at all turns.
