Final Stretch at The Big A
“Final Stretch at The Big A” is a documentary project about the unique culture and people of Aqueduct Racetrack. Aqueduct is New York City’s last thoroughbred racetrack. And by 2026, its 130-year history comes to a close. Since May, I have documented the ordinary lives at the racetrack. What follows are my observations on the highs and lows of sports, the racetrack as a ‘third place’, and the erosion of an Old New York institution.
