Guarding My Gates

In this body of work, I explore the complex and often challenging role of older siblings in nurturing and supporting their younger siblings. Drawing inspiration from my cousin Tavana's personal journey, I aim to represent the beauty and weight of this responsibility through intentional imagery and evocative art.

Each piece serves as a reflection of the sacrifices and selflessness inherent in the sibling dynamic, capturing the emotional landscape of love, protection, and the struggles that accompany these relationships. By translating Tavana's story into visual form, I invite viewers to connect with the universal experience of familial bonds and the resilience it takes to navigate them.

Through this exploration, I hope to illuminate both the joy and the challenges that come with being an older sibling, fostering a deeper understanding of the intricate tapestry of family life. Thank you for taking part in experiencing that.
