Alicia Alderete
Intersections of Identity
This work explores the intersections of identity, queerness, and young adulthood, focusing on the themes of home, connection, and disconnection. The house serves as a symbol of belonging, while the static TV, inspired by *I Saw the TV Glow*, reflects a fragmented view of reality or identity that many experience, especially when navigating self-discovery. Mirrors throughout the series represent the layers of identity—how we see ourselves versus who we want to be—capturing both clarity and distortion. This project examines the tension between understanding one’s self and the disconnect that can emerge from being misunderstood.
