Yangsiyu Gao
Transient Beings
As an international student nearing the end of my studies, the uncertainty about the future has made me reflect on the fleeting nature of time and the connections we form with unfamiliar places. I find myself wanting to spend more time with the people around me, trying new foods, and appreciating the beauty of this land. I hope that when people stand on Wilshire Blvd and see this photo, they can imagine me capturing this moment on their right--the morning sun, the breeze, and the atmosphere of the city that day. I also hope that through the reflection in the glass, the people will pause and look away from the photo to notice and be with the people and things around them.

About Yangsiyu
LA-based developing filmmaker, Yangsiyu "Goya" Gao, has been pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cinema and Television Arts at California State University, Northridge. He was born in a southern Chinese village where he witnessed the destruction of nature under the intrusion of urbanization. These experiences deeply influenced his perception and artistic expression, leading him to pursue naturalism in his works. His works bridge the gap between sensibility and rationality, exploring the contradictions of the relationship between human beings and themselves, others, and nature.
Presented by BKC & ASMP NY, The Bridge is a groundbreaking 16-week mentorship program for 18-26 year old emerging photographers and creative artists. To learn more about The Bridge, CLICK HERE.
